It infects your motor neurons which is what makes your muscles not work.

Yes, it can be transmitted by saliva or respiration droplets.
Can polio be treated in any way?
There is no treatment for polio itself, but the symptoms CAN be treated while your body fights the virus. Medicines include Ibuprophen and Acetaminophen. Fluids and rest also help. It usually takes two to ten days to go away.
